About Us

A fine photo of Spellbound Soapworks proprietor, Maura

Spellbound Soapworks is the love child of spunky soap-gal, Maura. What began as a hobby in 2003 has turned into an obsession of good times as she dreams up new and fun products to bring to the masses of strangeness at horror and sci-fi conventions.

Maura is joined by her sister, Chris, who custom sculpts many of the designs for the unique theme and novelty soaps. She also ties a nifty noose for Spellbound's blackly humorous Soap On A Rope.

Lately, Maura has taken to hanging out with a guy named Mike, who helps out with driving the car and moving heavy objects. He also pokes around with this very website and has been known to sculpt and paint a soap or two.

About The Soap

All of Spellbound Soapworks' soap is hand made by Maura in her Indianapolis home. For our novelty glycerin soap, once the soap base has been melted, fragrances added and molds poured, the soap is allowed to set up and harden. After being released from the mold, the soap may be hand-painted or left au natrual. Our paints are mineral based and perfectly safe for use in the bath.

You will always receive an ingredients list with your signature bar soap to ensure that nothing but the best ingredients go into keeping you clean.

A Little Q 'n' A

So… what does soap have to do with spooky movies anyway?
Nothing, really. We just managed to combine two things we enjoy.
Could I get that in a different color, scent, shape and/or with/without a specific ingredient?
Certainly. We love custom orders, and have as much fun cooking up your ideas as much as we enjoy cooking up our own.
I like your stuff, but I don’t know if it will work for Nana’s birthday. Do you have anything without monsters?
Sure – we've also got a sercret stash of hearts and flowers. We’ve made soaps for family reunion favors, gift baskets for wedding presents and baby showers.
I want a specially designed soap for a special occasion, or with my logo. Can you do that?
Definitely! Our lead mold maker, a sculptor by training, can work with you to design your soaps. A one-time setup fee of $130 may apply.
I saw a soap you had at a show or a friend showed me a soap that I don't see on the website. Can I still get it?
Sure! Just contact us and we will be glad to help you out. Our website does not list all of our products but it doesn't mean we won't make you something special.

What People Are Sayin'

Folks have had some wonderful things to say about our soap, and here are just a few.

Jason has been to many places. Crystal Lake, Manhattan, Elm Street, and now…your bathroom! No, he’s not interested in trying out that leftover roll of wet toilet paper you’ve been hanging onto. As a matter of fact, this time he’s climbing right in the shower with you thanks to Spellbound Soapworks!

If ever I’m feeling dirty at a convention (which is always), I just pay a little visit to Maura and her Spellbound Soap Works. Maura and her sister have some terrific stories to share while you peruse the handmade soaps of all shapes and colors. I walked away with a werewolf head soap and a wink-wink nod-nod bar from under the table...the coathanger special!

I've seen some strange Phantasm collectibles in my short time... homemade masks, cell phone covers, decorated toilet-seats and sphere-bras... but this particular item rates a new high for both strange and cool!
